The Mayor of Brighton took the stage and formally opened the their festival welcoming the Mrs Takla of the Tibetan Government who also spoke. One of the aims of Occulture was to involve different members of the community to highlight the positive aspects of spiritual freedom and the right to diversity, freedom of belief and speech. The days of newspaper attacks, vilification and stitch-ups were ending at this point and the Mayor’s endorsement was key to a brighter future for all concerned.
